Uninterruptible Power Supply
Uninterruptible Power Supply
A UPS for a helideck monitoring system is used to provide emergency power to the whole system if the input power source or mains power fails.
ShoreConnection offer a choice of UPS to its customers from a variety of manufacturers.
The latest CAP 437 9th edition states that the Helideck lighting should be fed from an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) system. The minimum duration of the Online UPS battery capacity time should be sufficient to cover an approach, landing and take-off, to include on-deck turn-around time; a minimum duration of 30 minutes is recommended.
This regulation also states that the Aeronautical radio equipment should be powered from a UPS system and HMS should be powered from an uninterruptable power supply.
Where a UPS is installed, it should be periodically tested along with anything that relies on it.
